The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are widely endorsed as a framework for a better world. But as the 2030 deadline for achieving them looms, most countries have made slow progress.

In a new Comment for the journal Nature, a group of prominent academics — including the Bennett Institute’s Professor Benjamin K. Sovacool — makes the call to adapt and extend the SDG framework to 2050. They highlight six crucial priorities and outline a schedule for action.
